Short summary
On its first day, Kingdom collected money at the box office, and Vijay Deverakonda got good reviews for his acting in the film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
Vijay Deverakonda’s much-awaited film Kingdom finally released in cinemas worldwide on July 31, after being delayed multiple times. The spy-action movie had built up a lot of buzz before its release. According to the latest report by Sacnilk, Kingdom had a fair start at the box office on its opening day. However, it couldn’t manage to earn over ₹10 crore on day one.
Kingdo movie earning 1st day
Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film Kingdom managed to earn ₹7.54 crore on its opening day, as per the report. This figure is better than the day 1 collection of his last release, The Family Star, which had opened at ₹5.75 crore. While this shows an improvement, Kingdom still couldn’t match the opening day numbers of some of Vijay’s previous films. His 2022 romantic drama Kushi had earned ₹15.25 crore on the first day, and his 2019 action film Liger had the strongest start of his career with ₹15.95 crore on day one. So, even though Kingdom did better than his most recent film, it fell short of his biggest openers from the past
On Thursday, Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 56.73%. The film opened strong in the morning with a solid turnout of 63.56%, indicating good interest among early moviegoers. However, the enthusiasm slightly dipped by the afternoon, as the occupancy fell to 56.52%. The trend continued into the night shows, where the numbers dropped further, with only 50.12% of seats being filled. Despite the decline as the day progressed, the film maintained a decent presence in theatres throughout the day.
Storyline of Kingdom film
Kingdom follows the journey of Suri, a police constable who transforms into a spy. Played by Vijay Deverakonda, Suri is sent on a crucial mission to Sri Lanka by the Indian government. Alongside completing his task, he is also searching for his missing brother, Siva, portrayed by Satyadev. The film also features Bhagyashri Borse as Suri’s romantic interest. After watching the movie, many audience members pointed out the suspenseful ending, which left several questions unanswered. Addressing this, producer Naga Vamsi confirmed during a post-release press conference that a sequel is already in the works and will be released soon.
Vijay’s performance in Kingdom received a lot of appreciation from critics and audiences alike, with many praising his strong presence in the lead role. However, some felt that the second half of the film struggled due to a weak screenplay. A review from Hindustan Times mentioned that Kingdom marks a kind of comeback for Vijay, both in terms of his acting and the character he plays. The review added that it had been a while since audiences got to see both the actor and the star side of Vijay shine on screen. Although there are a few moments where his performance seems slightly off, he quickly regains control and does a good job portraying the complex emotions and layers of his character.
