Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 collected ₹6.21 crore on its first day at the box office, which is significantly lower than the ₹18.25 crore opening of Raid 2.
Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 had a slow start at the box office, managing to collect around ₹6.21 crore on its opening day, as reported by Sacnilk. Even though the film had a wide release in key cities across India and featured Ajay in the lead role, it couldn’t draw big crowds to theatres. The film’s opening day performance was underwhelming, especially when compared to the much stronger debut of his recent success Raid 2, which had a significantly better turnout.
Son of Sardaar 2 fails to beat Raid 2’s day 1 collection
Earlier this year, Raid 2 had a significantly more impactful opening at the box office, pulling in an impressive ₹19.25 crore on its very first day. The film’s release coincided with a national holiday, which gave it a considerable advantage in terms of footfall across theatres. Benefiting from this timing, Raid 2 saw strong audience turnout, with overall occupancy rates exceeding 34%. Adding to its momentum was a wave of positive word-of-mouth from early viewers, which quickly translated into sustained ticket sales. Thanks to this early buzz and favorable audience reception, the film crossed the ₹100 crore milestone within just a few days of release, establishing itself as one of the year’s early commercial successes.
Son of Sardaar 2 Performed in Big Cities
On the other hand, Son of Sardaar 2 had lower audience turnout in most areas. In cities like Mumbai and Pune, the average occupancy was only around 14% to 16%. However, things looked better in cities like Lucknow and Jaipur, where more people showed up, especially during peak hours.
Lucknow turned out to be the best-performing city for the film. It recorded an overall occupancy of 33.33%, with evening shows going as high as 50% — the highest among all cities. Jaipur wasn’t far behind, with an overall occupancy of 32.67%. The evening shows there reached 43%, and even the morning shows saw about 25% attendance, showing strong interest from the local audience.
The National Capital Region (NCR) did fairly well, with an average occupancy of 23.33%. More people came for the afternoon (27%) and evening (31%) shows. In Chennai, even though there were only 52 shows, the city still managed a 20.5% occupancy, mainly due to good turnout during afternoon and evening screenings.
Cities like Chandigarh (15.67%), Bhopal (13.67%), Hyderabad (13%), and Pune (13.67%) had moderate but steady attendance throughout the day. On the other hand, Surat had the weakest response, with only 5% of seats filled and no major increase at any showtime. Ahmedabad also didn’t perform well, with just 9.33% overall occupancy, even though it had 398 shows. The afternoon shows were slightly better, reaching a 12% peak.
Son of Sardaar 2 Star casts
Ajay Devgn makes a return to the big screen as the iconic character Jassi in Son of Sardaar 2, a sequel that brings both nostalgia and new energy to the franchise. This time, joining him as the female lead is actress Mrunal Thakur, whose presence adds a refreshing dynamic to the story. The film also marks a significant milestone in Indian cinema as it serves as the official Bollywood directorial debut of Vijay Kumar Arora.
Arora, who has earned widespread recognition in the Punjabi film industry for helming emotionally resonant and critically acclaimed movies such as Harjeeta—a sports drama inspired by real-life events—and the poignant Kali Jotta, steps into the mainstream Hindi film arena with this high-profile project. His transition from regional cinema to Bollywood has been closely watched, and Son of Sardaar 2 is expected to showcase his unique storytelling style and sensibility on a national platform.
The movie has a big cast with many well-known actors. It includes Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Sharat Saxena, and Roshni Walia.
Mukul Dev also appears in the film in a posthumous role. Ashwini Kalsekar and Sahil Mehta also play important characters.
